Morrissey: The Vegan Icon

Morrissey: A Vegan Icon

Morrissey, the former lead singer of The Smiths and a highly influential solo artist, is well known for his dedication to animal rights and veganism. Throughout his career, Morrissey has used his platform to advocate against the exploitation of animals in various industries such as farming, fashion, and cosmetics.

In an interview with PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), Morrissey stated that “If you love animals, you don’t eat them.” He also added that he believes meat-eating is responsible for many health-related issues such as cancer and heart disease.

Morrissey’s passion for animal rights extends beyond just dietary choices. In 2015, he cancelled a performance at the Vive Latino festival in Mexico City after learning that bullfighting was scheduled to take place during the same event. He explained his decision by stating that he could not be part of a festival where animals are being mistreated.

Furthermore, Morrissey has been vocal about cruelty-free beauty products. His support of these products stems from his belief that animals should not suffer or die for human vanity. In fact, Morrissey once said: “I see no difference between eating animals and testing on them.”

Many companies have taken notice of Morrissey’s stance on animal rights and have reached out to him seeking endorsement or collaboration opportunities. For example, Lush Cosmetics produced a limited edition soap called “Sonic Death Monkey” which was inspired by one of Morrissey’s songs from his album “You Are The Quarry”. Lush also used this opportunity to raise awareness about animal testing within the cosmetic industry.

Another company that has partnered with Morrissey is People Tree – an ethical clothing brand that uses sustainable fabrics like organic cotton and recycled polyester while ensuring fair wages for workers involved in their production process.

In conclusion, it’s clear from Morrisey’s activism over several years now why he has become a vegan icon. His unwavering dedication to animal rights and cruelty-free products has earned him respect from his fans, peers, and even companies. Morrissey’s influence on the music industry is undeniable, but his impact on animal welfare is just as significant.
